Spain Wins Albania Friendly Behind Dani Olmo's Late Stunner

Olmo scores winning goal in added time for 2-1 victory

website Spain secured a narrow 2-1 victory against website Albania in a friendly match on Saturday, thanks to a stunning goal from Dani Olmo in added time. The home side managed to get a slender advantage against Albania in UEFA Euro 2024 qualification having escaped with a point in Croatia.

website Ferran Torres had given Spain the lead in the first half, but Albania drew level through Myrto Uzuni in the 57th minute. The game looked set to end in a draw, but Olmo produced a moment of magic in the fourth minute of added time to snatch the victory for Spain.

albania grew into the game after conceding though and equalised through Uzuni in the 57th minute. The striker prodded home from close range after Albania goalkeeper Etrit Berisha had saved a shot from Olmo.

Spain pressed for a winner in the closing stages, but it was Albania who came closest to scoring. Armando Broja hit the post with a header in the 89th minute, and Berisha made a brilliant save to deny Pablo Sarabia in the 90th minute.

Just when it looked like the game was going to end in a draw, Olmo popped up with a moment of brilliance. The RB Leipzig midfielder received a pass from Pedri and curled a stunning shot into the top corner from the edge of the area.

The victory will give Spain a boost ahead of their UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying campaign, which begins in March. Albania, meanwhile, will be hoping to bounce back when they face Italy in their next friendly on Tuesday.
